Re: Duckbill Necks

Regarding the posts of the day on "thick, muscluar hadrosaur necks":

I will say for one, that I never advocated such a view, not wrote of
one. My view, as I tried to point out at least, was that only the neck
was muscled, with the nuchal reaching "suspension bridge"-like across
the neck, and a deep flap of skin betwix the two, probably composed of
the outer skin, fatty inner layers, and structural fibers adding
support or shape.

I don't think it was Greg's position to show a deep, thick neck, as
many of his recent hadrosaur restorations with neck-flaps can attest,
and i believ he said so. These flaps are very thin and non-muscular; I
did mention muscular layers in the skin flap (probably) and for that I
appologize, but it may still be possible, though in light of the rigor
mortis Pete Buschholz pointed out, not probable.
