paleo textbooks

For the need thread of what paleo texts to use, here's my input:

For my intro paleo course I'm using Donald R. Prothero, 1998, Bringing
Fossils to Life: An Introduction to Paleontology, WCB/McGraw-Hill.
The first half of the book is principles of paleontology, which I use
for the lecture part of my class, and the second half runs through
various groups of invertebrates and vertebrates, and so is nice for my
lab, which does a group-by-group survey. I hven't finished going
through the book carefully, but I like what I've seen so far. My only
complaint is poor coverage of paleobotany, which I hope Prothero will
rectify in a future edition. I could be staying with this book for
     quite a while.

I'm CCing this message to Don Prothero, so that he will be aware of
the fact that a) I like his book a lot, but b) I want some plants,
both in the principles part and in the systematic part.
