Paleontology textbook

Hello,

I am suffering under the heavy responsibility of selecting a good 
textbook for a Paleontology class next year, and could use some tips. 
For the moment I am going with Richard Fortey's Life: an unauthorised 
biography, but if you can recommend other works or comment on this 
book it would be very welcome.
