RE: The heart of a Brachiosaurus
I have modeled the heart of the Berlin Brachiosaurus of 32 tonnes, and
found
that the anterior ribcage is large enough to accomodate at most a one
tonne
heart.
So is that the theoretical maximum? could the actual heart have been much
smaller, especially if the neck was not held subvertically? ( As an aside
does anybody who was at SVP this year know if the bony rods in the neck of
Matinez's new titanosauriform preclude the raising of the neck in at least
this species?).
Cheers
