Broome Dinosaur Tracks

Two men have been arrested by Australian Federal Police, charged with theft
of fossil tracks near Broome, NW Australia. They will appear in court on
Monday. These tracks MAY include suspected "?stegosaur footprints" that
went missing a couple of years ago from an aboriginal sacred site in the
Broome Sandstone (Lower Cretaceous). They are certainly reported to include
a theropod footprint. However, some human footprints may be involved as
well. (These are in superficial deposits only about 7,000 years old and
NOT - repeat NOT - in the same sediments as the dinosaur tracks.) At
present I don't know if charges relate to dinosaur tracks, or human tracks,
or both. More information when it's available.
