This actually made it to MSNBC. Caught a few moments channel surfing
Friday eve and they covered this, calling it the world's biggest practical
joke.

BUT, that was accompanied by the announcer's proposed flip side of
this, and that was to have the shuttle crew dress in Planet of the Apes
suits instead (a la the third movie in the series, AIR).

He said it'd be a lot cheaper to do...
