There's already talk on the list about the Lance parrot, coming out in
Nature VERY soon. Before you dismiss it as caenagnathid or otherwise,
please see the paper. Or see the specimen. It was identified as a parrot
by several ornithologists, that is until they were told it was Cretaceous,
when they promptly said "oh, I guess it can't be a parrot then"... Tom
makes a pretty convincing case for it's parrot status.
On an unrelated topic, does anyone know who first used the terms "brevis
fossa" and "cuppedicus fossa" -- was it Gauthier '84, '86 or did someone
use those specific terms earlier?
