Back into flippers?? I hope you are not meaning back to the use of some
ancient ancestral traits of primordial fishes because that's an
evolutionary fallacy. Whales didn't revert to some ancestral fish
characteristic; their terrestrial ancestors adapted to the sea developing
little by little the best possible design: a design that has evolved
convergently many times and in many different species.
