Quite a number of birds use their wings as display structures.  For
instance, just this morning on TV I saw a film of a ruffed grouse drumming.
 Part of the ritual involves fanning the wings in a manner clearly intended
for display.

And of course, many birds have bright patches (or "flashes") on their
wings: redwing blackbirds, orioles, various ducks, some warblers and so on.
