This is one of the great fallacies of logical thinking.

Correlation DOES NOT imply causal link

Please have this tattooed in any prominent place where you are likely to
see it on a regular basis.

There is a 1:1 correlation between the expansion of the universe, the
population of the earth, the movement of the Australasian plate north and
the increase in the height of trees. There is no causal relationship
between any of these correlations.

Causality has to be demonstrated independent of correlation.

The fact that the original post was trying to find causality between
hypothetical correlations makes for an even hairier chestnut (to mix
metaphores).
