While it may be stretching "terrestrial" to its very limits, modern
birds like swallows or robins (not ducks?) are migrating insectivores.
Do they, in fact, fit the "high metabolism" model?
Given the purported theropod-bird link, some intermediary form of "bird"
might possibly fit the proposed model.
