The most egregious instance of this kind of chicanery occurred when Bakker
surreptitiously added Kenneth Carpenter's name as an author to one of his
papers published in _Hunteria_ (the issue describing _Drinker_, if I recall
correctly). Ken had neither seen the manuscript (let alone written any of it)
nor knew of its existence until it appeared in print. He thereupon instituted
a letter-writing campaign to SVP members telling them his name had been used
fraudulently in this article, that he should not be contacted for comments or
offprints, and so forth. I have no idea why Bakker did that, but it was
considered a serious breach of professional ethics at the time.
