RE: Polar sauropods
These are the polar sauropods that I know of:
Rhoetosaurus brownei (?Bajocian eastern Australia)
Estimated paleolatitude: 65-56 deg.S
Unnamed sauropod (Campanian-Maastrichtian New Zealand)
Estimated paleolatidude: 55 deg.S
O-isotope studies suggest a water temp of 14.3 C.
By this time NZ was well separated from the rest of Gondwana =
migration was not an option during the winter.
And if you include prosauropods: The chumps who had the honor of getting
preserved alongside Cryolophosaurus.
Estimated paleolatitude: 61 deg.S
