Touche'.  OOC, at what size/age do most crocs become reproductively mature?  Is 
it possible that "post-puberty" crocs were large enough to reproduce, but small 
enough to survive under extremely restrictive conditions.  If this is true, the 
generalist eating habits of the croc might also have helped (a reptilian 
coyote, if you will).
