Protoavis

One way to try to appreciate the evidence for the nature of Protoavis
if to consult the primary literature.
  After the brief report (chatterjee, 1991) and response (Ostrom, 1991)
there is a recent abstract (Chatterjee 1994 in J.f. Ornithologie 135:330)
and the longer, most complete analysis of "The Triassic bird Protoavis"
by Chatterjee in Archaeopteryx 13:15-31, 1995). Again is followed by
Ostrom "The Questionalbe Validity of Protavis"  in Archseopteryx 14:39-42,
1996).
   Both the evidence and the interpretation are interesting.
