Paleontology/Fossil Software Applications?

Hi all,

I know I have seen posts here and there that refer to some software 
applications for dinosaurs, fossils.  I am specifically wondering 
about software that categorizes/identifies vertebrate/invertebrate 
fossils/dinosaurs  and/or minerals/rocks. 

If someone could tell what software is available and how and where to 
purchase same I would be very grateful.
