Actually, most dinosaurs >did< become extinct, vanishing throughout the
Mesozoic well before the famous K-T extinction. Cenozoic birds are
essentially a single dinosaur subclade that survived that K-T extinction.
Perhaps what you meant to say was, "Dinosaurs are not extinct, because there
are still extant members of the dinosaur clade."
