Dinosaurs delt with egg thieves for millions of 10s of millions of years
and there was no problems (see My paper in the Dinosaur eggs and babies
volume).
There was ground cover at many Mesozoic sites as indicated by densely
and finely rooted paleosoils. In many cases it was ferns.
