Re: Scapular movement in Dinos
V Tereshchenko (Paleontological Journal 28(1):104 1994, 30(2):232 1996)
favors scapular rotation in quadrupedal dinosaurs. Scapular rotation is
common among lizards, crocs and mammals, and especially in forms that lack a
well devloped clavicle-interclavicle brace like quadrupedal dinosaurs. There
was nothing to stop scapular rotation in most four legged dinosaurs. If some
dinosaurs such as ankylosaurs lacked rotation, then it may represent a
secondary loss.
