Oman dinosaurs

Axel Hartman and Anne Schulp from the Free University of Amsterdam
(Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam) discovered a dinosaur fossilsite
along a road in Oman. A large quantity of bones is scattered over a
piece of ground that in the Late Cretaceous had to be a inside bend of
a river. The site is at +- 10 km from the town Masquat. These are the
first dinosaur bones ever found on the Arabic peninsula. Its not yet
sure to wich kind of dinosaurs the bones belong to. The found consist of
vertebrae and a "handsized" armour plate . Next winter a team from the
FUoA together with local scientist from the Sultan Quaboos University
will return to the spot to dig for more fossil remains.
