giganotosaurus
For you early risers, the first mount of the skeleton of Giganotosaurus
will be on the TODAY show on Friday morning, ( the 13th, uh oh!) It will
be mounted on the admissions desk in the lobby of the Academy of Natural
Sciences, its foot "crushing" one side of the desk, and it faces off
against the Academy's exquisite mount of T. rex, both of them jaws agape.
The banner outside the Academy advertises this skeletal spectacle - "T. rex
has met his match!" It should be great. We're looking forward to it. Of
course, none of the actual bones may leave Patagonia, this skeleton is
entirely cast material, but since they have found nearly 80% of this
individual and Dr. Coria supervised the sculpted bits, it is reliable as
these things go. I recommend a visit. Photos will be up on
www.giganotosaurus.com in the coming weeks, (as soon as we get to it,) and
more features added tomorrow, so stay tuned.
