Chattanooga Dinosaurs!
* Terribly sorry for the misspelling of your name, kel. I should know
better than to try and work from memory on stuff like that....Now, what
was this about bribe money? :-)
Speaking of Dino Sites in the U.S., I recently visited a small museum in
Chattanooga, Tennessee called the Children's Creative Discovery Museum,
and I highly recommend it to all you dinophiles out there. They have a
great section on Paleo/dinosaur stuff, complete with a T-rex mounted
skeleton (you walk under it to enter the paleo area!), several skull
castings, and some great hands-on interactive displays for younger
visitors.
My favorite aspect to their exhibit was that children could "check in" at
a mock dig camp site when they enter. After they sign-in, they are given
acrylic tools and proceed to enter the dig area...This area has three
life-size, relief-style skeletons of dinosaurs in various stages of
articulation built into the floor, which they then excavate with their
tools. On the wall above the dig is a large wall mural by Bob Walters
which depicts what the animals they're working on looked like in life.
Great fun - check it out if you're in the area.
