I was under the impression that this extrapolation was based upon the
(likely) juvenile specimens included in "Gorgosaurus" sternbergi.  These
specimens seem to belong to the shallow-jawed, boxy-headed North American
tyrannosaur with forwardly-directed lacrimal horns, which is not Gorgosaurus
(I don't think it's Albertosaurus, either, although for all I know it could
be--has Bakker written that paper yet?).
