    This tripped up geophysicist Donald Tarling and his co-editor Roger Osborne 
(and, seemingly, their consultant editor, 
*Stephen Jay Gould*!), who, in their _Historical Atlas of the Earth_ (Henry 
Holt and Company, 1996), allowed their 
glossary to state (p. 179): "Ornithischians had bird-like hips, and are almost 
definitely the precursors of birds." ( _sic_!)
