Re: So-called Sickle Claws



I agree with Peter Von Sholly that there were probably three sets of  pads
present on the dromaeosaur pes. I still feel that Irenicnites gracilis is a
dromaeosaur track. However, even with a pad supporting digit 2 the animal's
locomotion would have been "compromised"- maybe considerably- by the large
off-center ungual claw on digit 2. Perhaps this explains (partially) the
development of the reinforced and stiffened tail.
