I agree about it being density I'm thinking of.  Although the experiment
failed because of lack of planning and poor equipment, it was a good
idea.  If a carthorse had a predicted weight of 12 tons by this method,
I would know that dinosaur weights predicted by the same method were
likely to be inaccurate.  Therefore, I don't think it matters if
dinosaurs had the same density as water as long as they had the same
density as large extant mammals - all the models are plastic after
all...

Thanks also for your message about I. seelyi and I. bernissartensis- I
am still hot on the trail (through masses of paper).
