Where to go near San Francisco

Hi everyone, I'm off for a 2 week stay around San Francisco/San Jose/Sierra 
Nevada  soon. 

What/whom should I go and see, on foot or by car?

PS with respect to leaping prey-catchers (origin of feathers debate): I can't 
think of one; chameleons have solved the problem with their tongues. 

I thought sickle-claws were for hanging upside down from branches, waiting to 
dive-bomb prey passing below. Y'mean it
