Bio, Lloyd Gabel
I'm Lloyd Gabel, and I've been lurking on just about every
paleontologically related list and page that I could find since I
became web-aware early last year. I have only the greatest admiration
and gratefulness to those who maintain Dinosaur Digest, pages of the
Pal. Soc. and Pal Assoc., DinoGeorge and the like.
I am a 60 year old Pharmacologist, the father of two seeming
barbariabs (who appreciate neither Verdi nor things paleozoic) and am
presently employed in New Jersey by the U.S. subsidiary of an Italian
pharmaceutical firm as a Clinical Associate Director. I mainly
organize and manage clinical studies in congestive heart failure and
respiratory disease at various University hospitals and medical
centers. I get to travel alot here and in Europe, and try to spend
some time at the local Natural History museums. My favorite is still
the Smithsonian for it's Burgess exhibits.
Although my formal education was not related to paleontology (BS is
Pharmacy, Columbia U., Ph.D/ Pharmacology, U. Manitoba) I been
entranced by fossils since childhood. Because of time, shelve and
workbench space limitations, I have more recently contrated on
Ordovician to Devonian invertebrates, mainly crinoids. My reading
time is consumed by Paleo textbooks and tomes gleaned from the GSA
lists and the web catalogs of the NHBS. I become incommunicado
whenever the J. of Paleontology, Dry Dredgers bulletin, J. Amateur
Paleontologist or a fossil catalog (oft-times quite educational)
arrives in the snail mail. I religiously read last night's lists each
day at lunch, and am constantly enthralled by the subject threads that
run through them.
To all who contribute to the Paleontology material on the net/web, my
personal thanks. I only I had it to do over again................
