DINOSAUR CONVENTION, LONDON
This sunday will be the, err, 7th? convention of the Dinosaur Collectors
Club, and will be held at Crystal Palace, London (once again). Parking
and admission will be free, and there will be free guided tours of the
Crystal Palace 'monsters'. If you've read a lot about these, and most of
us have, but never seen them, this is a must: they are far more
interesting than you may have imagined. Fun to be photographed next to a
quadrupedal megalosaur too;-).
Theme this time round is old reconstructions of prehistoric life, and
I'm guessing Mike will have some exhibition of the antiquated plaster models
he's been collecting. The new Battat set will be on sale, as well as
other bits and pieces available through the DCC. Luis Rey, Steve White
and (I think) Jim Robins will have artwork on display, I don't know if
the Dinosaur Society will have a table (Nigel?). OK, so it ain't
Dinofest, but it's a nice chance to meet up. Last convention had a
special guest appearance of Bill Blows... when I say guest I, err, mean he
dropped in for about 3 minutes.
I'll be wearing a bright green ceratosaurus badge, and broken glasses as
usual. I'll be fat and ugly and in need of a haircut. Don't hesitate
to introduce yourself.
"Ah well, I've attended Julliard, I'm a graduate of the Harvard Business
School, I've travelled extensively, I was around during the black plague
and had a pretty good time during that, I've seen 'The Exorcist' about
_167_ times and it keeps getting funnier every single time I see it. Not
to mention the fact that you're talking to a dead guy! Now what do you
think? You think I'm qualified?" Just for you Mickey. [one of my
all time favorite speeches! -- MR]
