Raptor Unread and T. rex Gangrene

Obviously personal opinions on Bob's book will very; Jane Austin (not that RR
compares to her work) wasn't very popular in her time. But for those of you
who ocntinue to bash Bob for writing RR, I have one question: Do you have any
idea how much of that money is going back into paleontology? He has personally
(out of his own pocket) created six new undergraduate jobs in dinosaur
paleontology at Casper College. He saved the Tate Museum and now donates 95%
of their annual budget. He does the same for two "small town" museums in Rock
River and Glen Rock, WY, and he's helping start a new museum in Gillette, Wy.
He has donated the profits from various stops on his bokk tour to create two
new paleo scholarships, and I've personally seen him stay over an hour passed
his scheduled time alotment so that every boy and girl who wanted could have an
autograph and picture drawn for them.
It's true that his scientific methods aren't always as good as we'd like,
and yes, he has had some pretty wild ideas, but before you go out of your way
to bash Bob, let's remember that you are attacking a person who spends almost
every waking hour of his life trying to forward the science we love. I think
that merits some respect.
