Just by chance I know what the original meaning of "sarcophagus" was. I 
was quite enthralled to discover that "sarcos" means flesh and "phagus" 
means to eat or eater, in Greek. Thyus this critter was a carnivore and a 
sarcophagus (as in coffin) means flesh eater- how appropriate!
