WILLSCULPT@aol.com (Bill Hunt) brought up a good point about sauropods
needing to get their heads to the ground in order to get a hold of
stones that would become gastroliths.  However, Bill states:

and I'd like to point out that I originally wrote in this thread
because I was trying to say that it's dangerous to assume that animals
did perform a particular task just because we can't imagine how they
could get by without it.
