The death of T. rex

I am sure that most serious scientists and amateurs do not subscribe 
to the British Sun newspaper (one of the popular tabloids in the UK), 
despite the majority of articles being somewhat factual.  Today's Sun 
has reported that "boffins" (no names mentioned in the article) have 
reported that T. rex would have died instantly if it fell over, as it 
would have cracked it's skull, and it wouldn't have been able to get 
up anyway!

Does anyone know the source of this statement, or who the "boffins" 
are?
