Another case of a probable carnivore descended from herbivores is the
so-called marsupial "lion" Thylacoleo carnifex (which does have a few
earlier relatives, but the whole line seems to have descended from
diprotodont marsupials).  The controversy over the diet of Thylacoleo seems
to be pretty much resolved in the direction of carnivory.
