Re: fossil microbes make beer
I just saw a story in one of the local dailies--their science coverage
is limited but seems decent. The story I saw said the microbes were
25 million years old. It wasn't clear whether they were planning to
market the beer, or just brewing it for themselves as a test of the
viability of the yeast. (The name mentioned in the article I saw was
"Jurassic Amber Ale"; the amber is at least accurate.) It also said
that there was interest in the possible value of the other microorganisms
they'd found, including potential medical uses.
