BLOOPERS! IT WAS BLOOPERS!

 DINOSAUR BECOMES HOLE MADE BY SHELLFISH
 
 There's quite a few vert. palaeo 'bloopers' in the recent literature, but I
 wouldn't say it's fair to call them 'bloopers' as new evidence, or re-analysis
 of old stuff, can often lead to different ('correct') interpretations. Examples
 are the Megadelphinus (or something etymologically similar - a kind of giant
 dolphin obviously) jaw that turned out to be a crocodile, 'bird' bones that 
 more probably come from small dinosaurs or pterosaurs and feathers that are
 really leaves. There's many others that don't spring to mind right now.
 
 But my favourites are the names given to two dinosaurs, I don't know them
 because I don't have much of a nack with nomen obsoletum (please feel free to
 correct my terminology!). Anyway, one turned out to be a bit of fossil wood 
 and the other some mollusc borings! Cool! Good job they were found pre-J.P. or
 someone would have been commisioned to do a restoration for a local tabloid. 
 
 Now that's embarrasment.
