That is because until recently very little was known about this.
It is very hard to untangle the various threads of evidence to
get a reliable answer to this question.

Recently a few books have been published that cover this.
If I remember correctly, the is a small paperback book that is
an atlas of prior continental configurations that goes back to
about the beginning of the Cambrian.  (I believe it has a green
cover).

Yep.  There was quite a bit of movement.
