There have been at least two prior continental clusters befor Pangaea
which broke up about 180 Mya. I do not have specifics but believe one
left a geosuture (the Ural Mts) when they came together. I think the time
was 500Mya but someone will correct this. Clearly the farther back we go
the harder it is to get a clear picture. I do believe that a visit to a
good university library and search of ge abstracts would give you better
info. Good luck. Please post a summary of what you learn.
