Re: T.rex eating habits
A couple thoughts on the subject of T. rex at table:
Didn't the Larson Bros. mention something about some "etched" Edmontosaurus
bones in association with "Sue". They speculated that the bones were
T. rex stomach contents. Peter Larson presented an abstract on a bunch of
things about "Sue" a few years ago at S.V.P., and the purported "stomach
contents" was part of the "information buffet" that Larson provided.
Didn't Horner regurgitate this info in his book _The Complete T. rex_
(sorry about the wording...just got a new thesaurus and had to try it out).
Regarding how big a bone T. rex could swallow, and not get a whopper of a
tummy-ache, it would depend on how efficient the gastric process was.
Great White Sharks have stomach acid that isn't much weaker than battery
acid (a slight exageration there, but you get the point). Great Whites
can swallow large bones, which are promptly dissolved in the stomach.
I presume crocs have pretty acidic stomachs, too.
