I never thought of this before, but I think there is a problem with it. 
It's like a ""Goldilocks problem"".  If the bones (e.g. dinosaurs) were
"too close", then they would be too hot (dust).  If the bones were "too
far", then they would be too cold (un-marked).  If the bones were "just
write" (close enough to the impact to be marked), then they may be burnt,
highly scratched, or even shattered (which causes a problem for
fossilisation) I would suspect.

Hasn't any person investigated bones near impact known impact sites,
especially the K/T impact (?).
