Re: Jurassic Park 2
Apologies for this slightly off-topic post!
I've heard a little bit of "confirmed" information about the sequel, mainly
that it is (or at least was about 9 months ago) due out in summer, 1997 (at
the same time as the rereleased. updated Star Wars: A New Hope), and should
feature at least most of the original cast. Jeff Goldblum mentioned on
Letterman when the first one came out that he was signed for a potential
sequel, Attenborough has stated that JP2 will probably be his final film
role, and Ariana Richards said "We're making another one!" at an awards show
about a year ago (how the plot will allow the kids to return to the island
is beyond me, unless it picks up immediately after the last one). I would
certainly assume that Neill and Dern will appear, since their characters
would have more of a reason to go back than any of the others, with the
possible exception of Attenborough's Hammond.
What the plot might entail, I've no idea. It would be interesting to see
whether the original cloned dinosaurs' imprinting on Hammond would ensure
his safety, though...
One quick question -- could anyone tell whether the two-toed hatchling
prints in the film were meant to be those of "Raptors" or the mistakenly
two-toed Gallimimi? The latter, I would assume -- except that I understood
that the original design of the animal *did* have the proper number of toes,
but when they were modelled over ostriches for the CGI sequence, they were
accidentally "maimed" by the animators. Any theories?
