Martin et al -

I don't know about scientific papers on the subject, but a nice
introductory paper is "Uncovering the Mysteries of the Amazon: Vertebrate
Paleontology Reveals Creatures Great and Small" by Kenneth E. Campbell and
Carl D. Frailey in _Terra_ 29(2-3) [Winter/Spring '90/91], pp. 36-48. This
is a magazine put out by the Los Angeles County Museum, and has some great
info on _Purussaurus_, including some nice photos.

Overheard in the Denver Museum's
old Fossil Mammal Hall, from a mother
to her daugher:

"See there? That's the camel-dinosaur, and
the horse-dinosaur, and the elephant-dinosaur..."
