Diplodocus and its feet?

  I have a question about the metacarpals of the Diplodocus.  I have seen 
several close-up photos and sketches them and they seem to be fairly 
flat, broad, and clawd (3).  But in photos of assembled skeletons' of the 
Diplodocus in museums have MC structures that resemble those of 
Camarasaurus or those of an Apatosaurus.  If you have any ideas I would 
greatly appreciate any input.
