Re: Re: summer prospecting ?

I really appreciate the input and it is pretty much of what
I had expected. For starters I should have included where I found them
and what I did, whooops. I found them on my Grandfathers property THE
DEARORN RANCH. Some markers are Elephant mtn, Cobern mtn, and Dearborn rvr.
I found the bones set @1" into the ground getting a tan in the hot summer
heat on an anticline. I did not have to pry them loose, they were loose
enogh to pick up. In the area there are fragments of fossils within a 30'
radius. Prior to picking them up I scetched thier orentation and several
other fragments that were near by. After I found the fossils I took them back
to my aunts house to clean them up a bit. I used a brissle and an air brush to
remove the lichens and residual material. After I cleaned them up a bit I put
them in a padded box to keep them dry and out of the light. I use the
same procedure when I prep arrow heads and arifacts that we collect from a
buffalo jump that we work sometimes in the summer.
As for me going out there and digging away, thats not what I had
in mind. I will send (donate) my material to the Museum of the Rockies
and go from there.
                        Thank you VERY much!
