Although not strictly comparative nature, here are a couple post-1990 references
on bone histology that you may find useful:

Varricchio, D.J. 1993. Bone microstructure of the Upper Cretaceous
theropod dinosaur Troodon formosus. _Journal of Vertebrate
                Paleontology_ 13:99-104

Chinsamy, A. 1993. Dicynodont (Therapsida) bone histology:
               phylogenetic and physiologic implications. _Palaeontologia
               Africana_ 30:97-102.

______, and B.S. Rubidge. 1993. Bone histology and growth
trajectory of the prosauropod dinosaur Massospondylus
               carinatus (Owen). _Modern Geology_ 18:319-329.

_______. 1995. Ontogenetic changes in the bone histology of the Late
Jurassic ornithopod Dryosaurus lettowvorbecki. _Journal of
               Vertebrate Paleontology_ 15(1):96-104.

And if you can find it (good luck), look at this old ref.:

Enlow, D.H. 1969. The bone of reptiles; pp. 45-77 _in_
             C. Gans and A. d'A. Bellairs (eds.). _Biology of the Reptilia.
              Morphology A._ Academic Press. London.
(note that this last paper is NOT the famous Enlow and Brown paper...
it be a 'nother 'un).
