I was also wondering about what an uncinate process is. As Philip says,
it is a feature of a bone, but I thought it was specific to a particular
bone (or set of bones). For example, I looked up the definition in the
Concise Oxford Dictionary of Zoology by Allaby, and it said (in part):
        "In birds, a protrusion of bone from a rib, enabling it to 
        join on to the rib behind by means of ligaments. ..."

So, is this the same feature we're talking about in Deinonychus?
