reptile ref.
A new paper by M. Laurin and R. Reisz, 1995, A reevaluation of early
amniote phylogeny, Zool. J. Linn. Soc. 113:165-223, recognizes the
Reptilia, but subdivides it into Parareptilia (Testudines,
Procolophonidae, Pareiasauria, and Millerettidae) and Eureptilia
(Diapsida, Paleothyris, and Captorhinidae). Thus, dinosaurs are
eureptiles. Nothing is said about birds. The alleged oldest reptile,
Westlothiana, is now a diadectomorph amphibian.
