One thing that they point out is that it was well before the most
recent spate of publicity since the 1930's that Nessie observations
have been made. For instance, the Vikings spotted her, Celtic and
Norse folklore speaks of monsters, and the first written account was
that of Adamnan in565 AD describing Saint Columba's sighting.
Any of the above and items promoting the development of tourism in
the Loch Ness area do not necessarily reflect the beliefs of this
