pretty fair vinyl dinos

When I was a kid, I played with toy dinosaurs made by Marx toys. I still
have them in a box in my basement, and take them out every so often to
entertain visiting children. Once a dog got hold of one of my Triceratops,
chewed it up badly. I painted the bite marks red, and used the unfortunate
ceratopsid as tyrannosaur fodder.
If any of you has access to the 1994-1995 Ward's Earth Science catalog,
there are some pretty fair dinosaur models offered for sale on pages G and
H in the front of the catalog, in the new products section. I've no idea
who sculpted them, but they strike me as far better than most. They come
in two scales, 1/35 (Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Camarasaurus, and
Maiasaura) and 1/20 (Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus,
Ankylosaurus [tail doesn't look especially Iguanodon-like], Allosaurus,
and Chasmosaurus). The 1/35 scale models sell for $36 each, and the 1/20
scale models range $60-$250.
I understand that Matt Smith and Paul Sorton hope to get into selling
copies of their dinosaur models at some point. Don't know when.
