Well, the term is common enough, but I don't think it is found in any law book
(the act 
itself is covered under other headings). It means that you take ill-gotten
("black") money-- 
from fraud, drug trafficking or whatnot--and invest them in legitimate
businesses that
give rise to legitimate lily-white profits, and presto, you're a respectable
businessman, and
rich. We've had a lot of that even here in li'l ole Sweden, the favorite money
laundries being
restaurants.
